Our elderflower presse won the Great Taste GOLD award in 2009 and we are delighted! Of the 4873 products entered, only 639 achieved a 1-star, 308 a two-star and only 83 three-star golds were awarded.
The Great Taste awards judging standards have long been the most rigorous in the UK. Every entry will be blind tasted by two teams of experts. Throughout every judging session, at least one supreme jury will also sit and taste. Comprising leading chefs, food writers and buyers, this jury will blind taste every entry the first two panels believed worthy of gold and confirm the star rating each deserves.
HEFF Diamond Award 2009
We were also delighted to win the Heart of England Fine Foods Diamond Award in 2009 for our Mulled Plum Potion. Our Plum Potion drink was first conceived to help celebrate Pershores Plum Festival, our plum potion is all about the magical taste of the Vale of Evesham’s finest plum orchards and to win this award is great for Plums and the Vale of Evesham.
This Mulled Plum Potion inspired comments such as: 'fun, modern, young,bright, natural colour yet zingy, sophisticated' from the judges who also liked its 'spicy warmth'.
The winners of the Diamond Awards are selected from over 200 entries from over 70 companies from Birmingham and the Black Country, Herefordshire, Shropshire, Staffordshire, Warwickshire and Worcestershire.
The expertise of judges from the food and drink industry was used in a three-day judging process to determine the worthy winners. Winners were announced at a gala dinner on Saturday 16th May 09.
